Happy Valentine's Day

Hi everyone, its Valentine's Day today~~~

So dear readers it Valentine’s Day! im here wish you an amorous Valentine’s Day where some of you will be buying flower, chocolates, perfumes in hopes of pleasing your girlfriend, fiancée, wife etc. or you hope to make some girl on whom you’ve had a crush on for the past 6 months one of the above.

While all the single people are condemning this day of love by saying that we are independent blah blah (especially single girls, who seem to become extremely feminist as the day approaches), did occur that this day is profession of love, so you can go and get all those things for your mom or your brother and still celebrate it. If this date of 14th February still doesn’t mean anything to you then keep quiet and spend your Thursday going to classes and doing regular Thursday things and let others enjoy.
So now let us together go back in time and learn what Valentine’s Day actually is?  Here are some interesting historical facts that you may not have known:
  1. Called Saint Valentine’s Day
  2. Early Christian martyrs were called Valentine
  3. February 14th celebrates the martyrdom of the Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni and another Valentine in Africa
  4. All of them were martyred on this day
  5. A feast day was observed in honour of the Valentines on 14thFebruary
Note that these facts have nothing to do with love and in fact honours priests who were martyred, so how did this day become a celebration of love? One theory suggests that this day of feast was promoted to counter the pagan holiday of Lupercalia where it got its relation to love. However, the first documented fact is when poet Geoffrey Chaucer used the name Valentine in the poem he wrote in honour of King Richard the Second of England’s engagement
“For this was seynt on Volantynys day
Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese his make”
[“For this was on Saint Valentine’s Day, when every bird cometh there to choose his mate”]
Well that’s enough for the history lesson! Coincidentally, today is also the 154th birthday of George Ferris, the inventor of the Ferris wheel. Enough digression! Let’s move on to brighter aspects of this day where we can witness hearts being broken and hearts rejoicing at acceptance. We’ve come up with the Top 5 things men should do on this day because no matter how much your girlfriend says that it doesn’t matter, it does!
1.       Pop the Question
If you’ve been waiting to ask a girl out or making your girlfriend your wife then today’s the day!
2.       Dress to Impress
If you’ve got reservations at the hottest restaurant or you’re eating together at home. Dressing up will make the occasion feel extra special!
3.       Go on a Vacation
With all the holidays from the Chinese New Year, stretch Valentine’s Day into a Valentine’s weekend at a romantic resort or some exotic destination.
4.       Flowers and Chocolates All Day Long!
Treat your significant other with flower showers and chocolate presents all day long. Our recommendation: stock up on Ferrero Rochers and the smooth Lindt’s Lindor Truffles
5.       Spend Time Together
If nothing else, just try and spend time together and enjoy each other’s company even if you have to video chat and get a little physical!
All in all today just try to have a good day committed or single. If nothing else, gather up a bunch of friends and go watch “A Good Day to Die Hard” and go for a lovely dinner with you friends or family, though warning all the restaurants are going to be filled with lovey dovey couples and if seeing that makes you sick then just order in! Happy Valentine’s Day!
